Freedom Of Information (Scotland) Act 2003 and Data Protection Act 1998

Your comments will inform the finalised National Park Plan. They may also be used to inform the National Park Local Plan in 2006 and other National Park projects or initiatives. The information you provide, including personal details, will be recorded by the National Park Authority. This will be used to send you a copy of the finalised National Park Plan and will be retained on a database for approximately five years.

Following consultation, a report containing a summary of all the responses, which may include your personal details, will be published on our website. Copies of the responses will be available to the public on request. We will assume that you agree to your response being made public unless you indicate in writing that you wish it to remain confidential. However, you should be aware that the National Park Authority is subject to the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and will have to consider any request to see responses made under the terms of this Act, regardless of whether or not respondents have asked for responses to be treated as confidential.

2. Special Qualities
This section of the draft National Park Plan provides a summary of the special qualities that combine to make the National Park a special place. The protection and enhancement of these special qualities lie at the heart of the draft National Park Plan.

3. Managing Natural and Cultural Resources
This section of the draft National Park Plan deals primarily with the sustainable management of the natural and cultural heritage of the Park, including landscape, promoting integrated land and water management and using resources such as energy and minerals wisely. It also sets out National Park Authority's role in sustainability.

4. The National Park Experience
This section of the Draft National Park Plan deals primarily with visitor and recreation activities, including management measures in particular areas of the Park, improving the quality of visitors' experience, as well as promoting the Park for health, raising awareness about the Park's environment and widening involvement by the public.

5. Communities and Livelihoods
This section of the Draft National Park Plan looks, in the context of the other aims of the Park, at where it can make a difference to the social and economic wellbeing of the area in harmony with its environment, develop the cultural vitality of communities and improve the quality and distinctiveness of local areas.
